Original Washi Journals from Kyoto
Our latest Kickstarter project will be launching very soon: journals made from washi (traditional Japanese paper) by a family-run company in Kyoto that has been making washi products for nearly 100 years.
The journals are made entirely by hand and will be available with plain, lined, or dotted paper types. They are work wonderfully with ink, ball pen, pencil, and even watercolor, making them far more versatile than your typical journal.
What makes them really cool, though, is that you can expand the pages to create a larger sheet to write or draw on:
This design is the same as traditional “goshuin” books that are used to collect calligraphy stamps from temples and shrines in Japan and are one of the products that the maker Nishikawa specializes in.
The journals can be stored in cases made from decorative Yuzen washi, so you’ll be able to personalize your journal in a style that suits you.
