From mixing to grabbing, flipping, and serving, all you need is one pair of saibashi.
These saibashi are from Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture, which is known for a traditional lacquer technique called “Tsugaru-nuri.”
Tsugaru-nuri, in turn, is famous for its vibrant colors and distinctive patterns. It has even been designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Japanese government.
The pattern featured on these saibashi is called “Nanako-nuri” and is made by adhering nanohana blossom seeds and afterwards applying numerous layers of lacquer.
Nanako-nuri is an incredibly time-consuming and painstaking process, but the final result is tiny, delicate rings set against vibrant bases.

The saibashi are made with natural materials, which include rosewood and natural lacquer.
Thanks to the sturdy wooden base and thick coats of lacquer, the chopsticks are durable and long-lasting.
Each chopstick is painstakingly handcrafted with great care paid at each step, so it takes around 1 and a half months to make just one chopstick!
They are also equipped with a functional design, including rough tips that make it easier to grab food, and square ends that keep them from rolling around counters and tabletops.
They are available in five different colors:
